- Overpass to open early Monday morning
- Drivers will have to take different lane to get onto on-ramp

Starting Monday morning, drivers will be able to access the on-ramp to I-4 eastbound in Downtown Orlando from Garland Avenue at Amelia Street.
Drivers now have to be in the right lane on Garland Avenue in order to access the I-4 eastbound on-ramp at Amelia Street. It used to be the left lane, but that on-ramp is now closed.
The new overpass goes over Colonial Drive, putting drivers onto I-4 eastbound.
The new overpass had been under repair for months after cracks were discovered back in April of 2018.
FDOT stated it plans to open the overpass up for traffic around 7 a.m. Monday. Again, drivers will have to shift from left lane access to the right lane to access the on-ramp.
Drivers are expecting the change to cause some minor delays.
“At first until everybody figures it out. It’s going to be congestion probably in the mornings but after everybody figures it out and gets used to it, it’s probably going to be really nice,” reflected Derrick Gogul, who drives on the I-4 daily.
This is all part of I-4 Ultimate project and the new overpass will allow for other construction and demolition along I-4 through the downtown corridor and at the same time keep traffic moving at a steady pace.
If you happen to miss the new on ramp, all you have to do is continue down Garland Avenue to access a second eastbound on-ramp that right past Colonial Drive.
